Selection of donor | Blood transfusion |
Two basic principles must be kept in mind when the donor is selected:
- The blood collection procedure should not be harmful to the donor.
- The donor's blood should not be harmful to the recipient.
The selection of the blood donor involves a medical history and simple physical examination (pulse rate, blood pressure), and later, screening for transfusion-transmissible diseases.
